I want to inspire America to take a new path, a different direction.

"I want to inspire America to take a new path, a different direction. I envision an America which has the capacity to reconnect with the heart of the world; an America which proceeds in the world optimistically and courageously. An America which understands that the world is interdependent, that it is inter-connected, and that what we do today impacts future generations.

I want to break the shackles of fear which have deprived our citizens of rights. We need to change the way this country values humanity, so that instead of fear and lies, we can live our lives based on principles of peace and hope. We need to regain the trust of the American people and we need to have a government which trusts the American people.

It's time for America to resume its glorious journey; time to reject shrinking jobs and wages, disappearing savings and rights; time to reject the detour towards fear and greed. It's time to look out upon the world for friends, not enemies; time to counter the control of corporations over our politics, our economy, our resources, and mass media. It's time for those who have much to help those who have little, by maintaining a progressive tax structure. It's time to tell the world that we wish to be their partner in peace, not their leader in war. Most of all, it is time for America to again be the land where dreams come true, because the government is on the side of its people."

Village Micro-credit Project

Supporting economic self-sufficiency and technical assistance

The concept of micro-credit is simple yet empowering. Micro-credit is the extension of small loans to entrepreneurs who are too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. The loans are typically short-term (a year or less), are not secured by collateral, and require repayment in weekly installments.

Giving individuals the opportunity to start micro-enterprises (small businesses) has proven an effective and popular measure in the ongoing struggle against poverty. Micro-credit empowers individuals to use their existing skills to create viable businesses, which allows them to improve their living standards, and ultimately benefits the entire community.

it's the basics of the basics

Making big shifts is overwhelming. We get paralyzed by fear and doubt. The way to get around that is to simplify things. Our brains tend to over-complicate things.

When caught in a mind storm, seek the simple truths of what you are sensing, feeling and knowing.

Do you have an obsession with yourself? Often when we are involved in only our world, our worries and fears, we forget that there are others around you that may need a little of your attention and love. We can't see anyone else when we are self- obsessed.

Obsess about someone else for a change. This will be a remedy to your problems. Greet somebody and make them feel good. Even this simple action is thinking about someone else's emotions, needs, lacks, hurts. It's the basic of the basics.

Look inside rather than out ***

Not long ago, there was a study about relativity: a person who buys a car for $30,000 has no problem spending an extra $1,000 on leather seats. But a person who buys something for $20 won't buy an additional item for $10. In other words, relative to a huge expense, what's a little more? Relative to a small expense, one probably won't put out a little extra to get twice as much.

Unfortunately, this is how we work throughout our lives.

We judge ourselves and others relative to where we're at and who we surround ourselves with. It's important that we examine where we're coming from. Wherever we come from, it cannot be relative to anyone or anything but ourselves.

For example, when a person is jealous, they are looking at where they are relative to the person or situation they are jealous of. Why is he there and I'm not? I should be getting this, and I'm not. It doesn't bother me when a business owner on another continent has three cars. It bothers me that my next door neighbor has three cars.

Another example: In a country like Vietnam, the average American on an average American salary (even in today's economy) would live like a king. That doesn't make him royalty. And on the same salary in Russia, that average American could barely put food on the table. Does where a person live change his or her intrinsic value? No, you say. Obviously. But why isn't it obvious in our daily lives?

Judgment is a relative thing. You don't judge a child for doing something wrong when they don't know any better. You judge someone who you think should know better. We judge others and ourselves based on relativity of what we perceive to be fair.

But there's even a bigger picture than that. If we don't have what we want in life, we can direct our anger in one of two directions, at ourselves or the universe. Either I didn't push, do, or say enough, or I pushed, did and said and I wasn't granted what I wanted. But that's not how our brain works.

It is possible to look at others for inspiration and modeling, meaning you can look to your teacher to figure out what more you can do, even try to walk the walk as they do.

But more often than not, we fall into the trap of relativity.

Perhaps the worst part of living life in this state of relativity is that we allow our moods and our energy to be determined by who we are around and what we are doing.

Where we are at in life shouldn't — no, can't — have anything to do with anyone else but us. Instead of asking, "Am I as good/smart/strong/fat/thin/rich as he is," I need to ask, "Am I as good/smart/strong/healthy/rich as I could be?"

Then and only then can we take action to bridge the gap between where we are and where we should be.

Take charge and remove the hooks from the people and things around us. We can stop comparing, measuring, assessing our value based upon those around us. When you have the tendency to judge, take down the measuring stick and look inside rather than out.

free yourself

Any miracle in the material world must be preceded by a miraculous change in our own character. Physical reality and human nature are intimately connected. When we create an extraordinary transformation within, the power allows the universe to externally express this inner change.

Today, free yourself from tiny bits of selfishness, envy, anger and self-pity. By rejecting these negative temptations, you will be free to ignite the power of miracles.

Quote of the Day

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Margaret Mead
Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

People break when they break.

People break when they break. A person has to hit rock bottom to want to change. You can’t guide them to hit rock bottom, but you can wait for them and be there to support them when they do.

Allow people the space for their process to unfold, and be there for them when it comes undone.

TODAY! Speed up the chain reaction.

What would the world become if everyone woke up and decided,

“I’m going to treat everyone with kindness today.”

We would brighten someone’s day, who would in turn brighten someone else’s day, and on and on and on. At the end of the day, it’s conceivable it would impact thousands of people.
Would we experience a huge change in the world?

TODAY! Speed up the chain reaction.
